90% of the world’s energy comes from the consumption of fossil fuels –
oil, gas, and coal. When these fuels are burned, they release carbon
dioxide, the most common of the “greenhouse gases.”
Most scientists believe that the earth is warming (“global warming”).
They believe the cause is greenhouse gases that create a ceiling
in the atmosphere trapping the earth’s heat. As the earth warms,
there are many negative consequences – weather patterns change, ice caps
melt, ocean levels rise.
Every single person on earth can help with global warming. By reducing
your “carbon footprint” – the amount of carbon dioxide you release in the
air – you are doing your bit to help reverse global warming.
